TrEeD

TrEeD is a 23′ tall metal tree sculpture with a canopy that stretches over 26′ in diameter. It has 95 illuminated blossoms that have recently been upgraded with all new color-changing LEDs. It will cycle through 200 mesmerizing patterns. Around the trunk you can find the Ted Pledge. TrEeD is dedicated to Ted Welles who is a friend who left this planet too early. The Ted Pledge consists of ten phrases that if everyone lived by them, the world would be a better place. TrEeD was originally designed to be a bike rack for Burning Man (TrEeD was built in 2015 with a Burning Man Honorarium art grant.) As Burning Man is very bike oriented, the old roots were each 25 feet long allowing a ton of bikes to be parked on it. It has been modified since then to just be a sculpture with a smaller root base.
